The daily ritual
Same door, same seat, same order.
The line moves quickly and most of it is regulars: the small latté, the bagel toasted twice, the samosa wrapped to go. It is a small room on a busy corner, and it keeps a whole block on schedule.
Sidewalk tables out front when the weather allows. Holiday hours go up on the chalkboard by the door.
The room
Furnished, not decorated.
Crystal chandeliers over mismatched antique tables. A wall of black damask. An old cabinet by the window with fresh flowers and Johnny Cash looking back at you. Nothing in here matches, and that is exactly the point.
Hours
Open to close, the whole week.
Holiday hours are posted on the chalkboard in the window. Call the counter if you want to be sure before you walk over.
The board in the window says it best.
Ahead of the line
Three steps, then walk in and pick it up.
Tell us what you want and when you will swing by. We will have it bagged and waiting by the register, no queue and no waiting on the toaster.
